It also makes you wonder what happened to Camille’s father. • Terms of Use • ^ Mitchell, Wendy (August 6, 2008). "Forward, Slingshot start shooting UK school horror Tormented". Screen Daily. The setting of Ann's section suggests Natalie was likely killed in Kelsey’s room, and then her body was moved to the carriage house for long-term safe keeping. That would make sense, as in the book version of Sharp Objects’ Amma keeps Natalie prisoner in Kelsey’s carriage house for days before killing her and placing her body on a main street in Wind Gap. And, even the show version of Natalie was missing for some time before she was found in that alley. • ^ "Rowling's Christian critics miss the mark". 19 October 2007. Camille’s own willingness to wade into the dark gives her an uncanny strength. It’s quite another for the show to leave them about its protagonist; the weirdest thing about the ending is that it not only cuts off exploring more about Amma, but also halts Camille’s journey at a moment of fraught realization. The paragraph that her editor, Curry ( Miguel Sandoval), reads aloud on the show, shortly before the reveal about Amma’s guilt, is the final paragraph of Flynn’s novel. In context, the paragraph actually does attempt to wrap up the story of Camille, Amma, Adora, and Wind Gap. Finding out your long-lost teenage sister is first a victim of Munchausen’s by proxy and then a murderer in her own right means quite a bit of emotional turmoil for a full-blown alcoholic and recently recovered cutter—but on the show, we never see how Camille comes to terms with this world-shattering stuff. In the book, Camille goes after the one unmarked area of skin on her body with a kitchen knife. In the series, Camille is left on the precipice of unfurling trauma. We don’t know what to make of Amma’s guilt, because we don’t even know what Camille makes of it. • The West Australian Women As a child, Rowling often wrote fantasy stories, which she would usually then read to her sister. She recalls that: "I can still remember me telling her a story in which she fell down a rabbit hole and was fed strawberries by the rabbit family inside it. Certainly the first story I ever wrote down (when I was five or six) was about a rabbit called Rabbit. He got the measles and was visited by his friends, including a giant bee called Miss Bee." At the age of nine, Rowling moved to Church Cottage in the Gloucestershire village of Tutshill, close to Chepstow, Wales. When she was a young teenager, her great aunt, who Rowling said "taught classics and approved of a thirst for knowledge, even of a questionable kind," gave her a very old copy of Jessica Mitford's autobiography, Hons and Rebels. Mitford became Rowling's heroine, and Rowling subsequently read all of her books. • save • • In September 2013, Warner Bros. announced an "expanded creative partnership" with Rowling, based on a planned series of films about her character Newt Scamander, author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Camille picks at her clothes, pulling at threads, and this week is much the same. Natalie’s funeral is decorated with a speech about vengeance. Camille does some reporting from the wake, without permission from the family, despite lying about that to her editor Curry, in another act of self-destruction. In the comments, there has been some talk of the pace being too slow, and there’s not much more acceleration as the story progresses. But I think this languid, heavy pace suits it, and it’s so good-looking that even when Camille is just (drunk-)driving around town, taking in the sights, I’m happy to go along for the ride.
